Hey guys! I am headed back overseas with Adventures in Missions for the THIRD time and it feels so surreal to be writing a welcome back blog once more!! I am stoked to say that this summer I will be serving as a squad leader! Despite not knowing quite where I'll be headed yet, I am so thankful and excited for this opportunity to walk alongside this next generation of racers as they put their "yes" on the table for Jesus and step into deeper obedience with Him.
You may be asking how I got here so let's catch y'all up to speed...
After returning from the 10/40 trip I went on last spring, I spent the summer at home in Oklahoma and visited family and friends all over the country (Texas, California, Oregon, Arizona, Washington, Missouri, and Maine!). It was a busy but restful season that was much needed.
At the end of August of this past year I moved to Phoenix, AZ and started my undergrad in Behavioral Health Science at Grand Canyon University, where I currently sit writing this blog (lopes up)! Starting school again after taking two gap years has challenged and stretched me in the most unpredictable ways, but it has been incredible to see God's had throughout it all.
That brings us to the present!
Since being back in school, the Lord has been truly breaking my heart for my generation. While GCU is a private Christian school, that doesn't automatically mean that every student or faculty member is a believer. I've seen and heard my fellow students wrestling with their purpose and longing for the type of unconditional love, hope, and freedom that only Jesus can provide- but searching for it in all of the wrong places. This has also made me realize the importance and necessity of discipling the young adults of Gen Z that do follow Jesus so that they may go out in boldness and share the good news with their own communities, friends, and families.
And what an incredible opportunity to do that through the World Race! While the summer is definitely still a ways away, would you join me in prayer specifically for:
-
Being present where I am currently and not getting ahead of myself.
-
A teachable spirit receptive to the Lord's preparation for this upcoming season.
-
The Lord to tend the soil of these racers' hearts before training camp even begins.
As always, reach out if you want to know more- I'd love to chat. I am so grateful for you taking the time to read this blog. Until next time!
