“Above all, put on love, which is the perfect bond of unity. And let the peace of Christ, to which you were also called in one body, rule your hearts. And be thankful. Let the word of Christ dwell richly among you, in all wisdom teaching and admonishing one another through psalms, hymns, and spiritual songs, singing to God with gratitude in your hearts.” Colossians 3:14-16
I cannot put into words how beyond good the Lord is. This week we started local ministry here in the Gainesville area and all I can say is that there is nothing better than having a relationship with Jesus Christ and seeing Him work in your life and in the lives around you.
For the first two days, my team and I worked at the Good Samaritan Food Bank. We packed groceries and assisted people by pushing their carts back to their cars. We got to have conversations with them simply about their everyday life and where they’re at with the Lord. The next day we did evangelism at Walmart and a local park. We got to have gospel-centered conversations with both firm believers and those that haven’t been to church in years.
The following day, my team and I helped in the kitchen to make breakfast for both gap year squads and the staff (there may or may not have been a few eggshells in the breakfast burritos).
It is so sweet to see how the Lord has brought all of us together and how He uses us for His glory. One month ago I didn’t know any of these people and this week we got to pray over one another and for others. Getting to rejoice in the Lord together during Friday night revival has become one of my favorite things and I’m so excited to get to praise God all over the world with these people. Getting to serve the One who sacrificed so greatly for us is indescribable. It’s hard to believe that one month has already passed but that just makes it even more exciting to keep moving forward. One week of domestic ministry in Florida, one week of debrief here in Gainesville, then off to Guatemala!!
